STUDY OF AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRIC WIRES THERMAL STABILITY

Abstract
Investigated process of automotive electric network wires heating by short circuits (S/C). Founded that intensity of wire heating by S/C depends on its resistance and grows by increasing of sectional area to length correlation. By short circuit, time of wire melting beginning reduces with reducing its resistance. In this regard, in designing or repairing of automotive electric network using wires with considerable reserve over nominal of their working current loading is inexpedient. By S/C low resistance wires heats to high temperature more intensive, by increasing their sectional area, which is significant fire risk.
