MONITORING OF PRODUCTS OF PYROLYSIS AND COMBUSTION OF POLYMERIC MATERIALS: DETECTION OF FORMALDEHYDE BY MEANS OF LIQUID-GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY
Abstract
Monitoring of possible ways of ingress of polymeric materials toxic combustion products in the environment and their harmful influence on human health has shown that they can form under conditions of incomplete combustion of polymers or thermolysis (pyrolysis). Identification of incomplete combustion products of polymers is usually carried out by chemical methods through qualitative tests, thus the specific and highly sensitive reactions are utilized. For quantitative definition volumetric, photo-colorimetric and chromatographic (gas and fluid chromatography) methods of the analysis are used. The authors offer a technique to detect formaldehyde, generated during destruction of formaldehyde resins by method of liquid-gas chromatography. The offered techniques allow for short time to receive the information concerning detection and definition of the majority of combustion products of polymers in different objects: water, air, medicinal forms, food.
