TRANSLATIONAL PECULIARITIES OF IT SLANG: SEMANTIC ASPECT

Abstract

The relevance of this topic in the conditions of an increase in the number of IT technologies does not raise doubts about the importance of this topic, because the rapid development of computer technologies generates enrichment and, at the same time, an increase in the relevant professional language, IT terminology, the need for a comprehensive, systematic and predictive analysis of its terminology, slang, innovations, giving rise to such a phenomenon as industry translation. In addition, the systematic analysis of terminological units of the IT sphere can serve as a basis for further research in the field of translation of computer terminology, which will contribute to the mutual understanding of specialists in the studied field at the international level. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the structural and word-forming features of IT terms and IT slang, taking into account the ways of their reproduction in translation. Special attention is paid to the method of their translation, their compliance with generally accepted rules, the equivalence of IT terms, which are characterized by a high frequency of use on the Internet, which makes it necessary to perform the following tasks: to substantiate the concepts of IT term, term system, IT slang and computer name in modern IT terminology; determine adequate ways of translating English IT terms and IT slang; to find out the relevance of equivalence and adequacy of methods of translation of English IT terms into Ukrainian. Network slang includes the following semantic groups and subgroups of slangisms: slangisms of general network slang, vocabulary related to computer slang; gamer slang. The task of finding sufficiently expressive and figurative shades of slangisms in the translated language rests with the translator himself. The choice of means of expression in the translation language is directly related to the clarification of the meaning of the word in the context.
