PROBLEMS OF STRESS IN SPEIALNOSTEY STUDENTS OF PEDAGOGICAL AND TEACHER OF HIGH SCHOOL
Abstract
Stress is commonly defined as a perceived imbalance between the demands made on people and their resources or ability to cope with those demands. Prolonged exposure to stress can lead to psychological and physical ill health. Work-related stress is a symptom of an organisational problem, not an individual weakness. The article considers the impact of stress on human efficiency. The stress resistance level among students and employees of educational sector have been investigated. Surveys were performed to detect the level of stress resistance among students of the fourth year. They revealed that the majority of students (48.8%) has high or above average level of stress resistance. The investigation of stress resistance among employees of educational sector has shown that compared to future specialists their stress resistance level decreased slightly. A clear tendency of reduction of stress resistance with increasing working experience can be observed. The lowest level of stress resistance is observed among workers with experience of over 15 years, and the highest - for employees who just start working. Among the causes of stress one can define: work overload, strict timeframes; conflicts, uncertainty of duties; lack of motivation. Employers are required by law to carry out an effective risk assessment, and risk assessments in schools and other educational establishments should consider different types of the psychosocial risks present; in particular, work-related stress, harassment, and violence. Depending on the issues facing the particular school, there may be a need for different but complementary approaches for work-related stress, violence, and unacceptable pupil behaviour.
