RADONIC DANGER IN CONSTRUCTION AND PROTECTION AGAINST IT

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of radioactive danger of chemical effect, of gaseous water-soluble radon upon building structures and sources of its origin in natural environment. Radon accumulation in buildings is the direct result of the capillary-porous structure of building materials, concrete in particular. The method for radon diffusion parameters determination is described, the experimental results on the detection of radon permeability through cement and sulfur concrete are presented. Anti-radon barriers made of moisture-resistant materials including sulfur mastic and sulfur concrete are suggested as means of anti-radon protection.
