CONCEPT OF “ANALYSIS OF EDUCATIONAL NEEDS” IN FOREIGN SCIENTIFIC AND PEDAGOGICAL LITERATURE

Abstract

The article deals with different definitions of concept of “analysis of educational needs” (AEN) in foreign scientific and pedagogical literature, highlights experience of theoretical researches in the USA. Role of the AEN is the process of study a foreign language for specific purposes is defined as the key one while forming aims and tasks of curriculum, and the main factor which has influence on successful accomplishment of the aims during study process. Different approaches to study of the AEN’s role taking into account retrospective and evolutionary aspects of development are viewed, analysis of objective and subjective study needs, and analysis of language means and study environment are characterized. New methods of the AEN implementation (questionnaire, survey, feedback, observation, structure interviews, case studies) are outlined and main conditions under which effective AEN can be fulfilled are distinguished. Prospects of application AEN as a component of curriculum for training teachers of foreign languages for specific purposes are shown.
